Buddzy keeps authentication dead simple. No passwords, no email confirmations, no security questions. Just your phone number and a one-time code sent via SMS. It's fast, it's secure, and you'll never have to deal with "forgot my password" screens again.
How It Works
Buddzy uses an OTP-only authentication system. Here's the flow every time you log in:
- Enter your phone number — Select your country code and type in your number.
- Receive a 6-digit SMS code — Buddzy sends a verification code straight to your phone. It usually arrives within seconds.
- Enter the code — Type the 6 digits into the app.
- You're in — That's it. No password, no extra steps.
Your phone number is your identity on Buddzy. One number, one account. It's the single key to your entire Buddzy universe.
Security Details
The OTP system has several safeguards built in to protect your account:
- Code expiration — Each 6-digit code expires after 10 minutes. If you don't enter it in time, you'll need to request a new one.
- Attempt limit — You get 5 tries to enter the correct code. This prevents brute-force guessing.
- Lockout protection — If you fail all 5 attempts, you're locked out for 2 minutes before you can request a new code. This stops automated attacks in their tracks.
- No stored passwords — Since there are no passwords in the system, there's nothing to hack, leak, or steal from a database breach. Your authentication is always fresh and one-time.
Session Duration
After you verify your OTP, your session stays active for 30 days. This means you won't need to re-verify every time you open the app. After 30 days of inactivity, you'll be prompted to verify again with a new OTP.
Pro Tips
- Make sure your phone number is always current. If you lose access to your number, account recovery takes 3-5 business days through Support.
- Never share your OTP code with anyone. Buddzy will never ask you for it outside of the app.
- If the SMS doesn't arrive, check your signal strength and make sure your carrier isn't blocking automated messages.
- Keep your phone number's SIM card secure. Whoever has access to your SMS can access your account.
Good to Know
Changing your phone number isn't a self-service action. If you need to switch to a new number, you'll need to contact Support through Settings. It takes 1-2 business days with identity verification. Your number is your key, so keep it safe.
