You don't need to be the host to have fun with Challenges. Participating is where the real action is — and it's completely free. No Orbs, no Stars, no cost at all. Just your creativity and a willingness to compete with your friends.
How It Works
Here's the step-by-step for jumping into a Challenge:
- Open the Challenges tab in the app
- Browse through active Challenges you've been invited to
- Tap into one and read the prompt carefully
- Check the response format (Photo, Video, or Text)
- Create your response — take a photo, record a clip, or write your answer
- Hit Submit and you're in
The moment you submit, your response is instantly hidden from all other participants. Nobody can see what you sent until the deadline hits and the Gallery reveal happens. This keeps things fair and prevents anyone from copying or building on someone else's idea.
The One-Shot Rule
This is important — you get exactly one submission per Challenge. Once you tap that submit button, it's locked forever. You can't edit it, replace it, or delete it. What you sent is what everyone will see when the Gallery opens.
This sounds intense, but it's what makes the whole thing work. The one-shot rule means every submission is raw, authentic, and made under a little bit of pressure. That's where the best content comes from.
Pro Tips
- Read the prompt twice before you start creating. The number one reason people lose Challenges is misunderstanding what was actually asked.
- Don't overthink it. Your first instinct is usually your best one. Spending 20 minutes perfecting a response rarely beats the person who went with their gut.
- Pay attention to the deadline. If there are only 5 minutes left on a Flash Challenge, just send whatever you've got. A submitted response always beats no response.
- Lean into the weird. The submissions that stand out in the Gallery are the ones that took a creative risk. Safe and predictable rarely wins.
- Check the Challenge format before you start. You don't want to film an amazing video only to realize it's a Photo Challenge.
Good to Know
There's no penalty for not participating in a Challenge you were invited to. If you're busy, not feeling creative, or just not into the prompt, you can skip it with zero consequences. But keep in mind that a Challenge needs at least 2 submissions to be valid at all, so on a quiet one your participation is genuinely what makes it count. When you do participate and win, you're looking at a nice haul of Stars and Orbs — not bad for something that costs you absolutely nothing to enter.
