You love them for it, but sometimes your phone needs a break. That's where the mute feature comes in — and it's way more thoughtful than you'd expect.
How It Works
Muting a friend silences push notifications from that specific person. You won't get pinged every time they send you a Star, create a Challenge, or trigger an activity update. But — and this is the important part — everything else stays exactly the same.
When you mute a friend:
- Their Stars still count — every Star they send is received and tracked normally
- Streaks continue — your mutual Streak isn't affected at all
- Rankings update — their Star contributions still count toward leaderboards
- They don't know — muting is completely invisible to the other person
- Your friendship is untouched — muting is not blocking, and it doesn't change your relationship status in any way
Muting vs. Blocking
This distinction is crucial. Muting is purely a notification preference. It tells Buddzy "I still want to be friends with this person, I just don't want push notifications from them right now." Blocking is a completely different, much more serious action that severs the connection.
Think of muting like putting your phone on silent for one specific contact. You're still friends, you still interact, you still see each other in the Galaxy. Your phone just stops buzzing for their specific activity.
When to Use It
Muting is perfect for several scenarios:
- A friend is going through a super active phase and generating tons of notifications
- You need a quieter phone for a few days but don't want to disable all notifications

- A friend plays in a different timezone and their activity comes at inconvenient hours

- Remember that muting doesn't affect your Notification Center. All of that friend's activity still gets logged there, so you can catch up whenever you open the app.
- You can unmute anytime with a single tap. There's no waiting period or cooldown.
