A Reveal has three possible states and no human in charge of moving between them. That is what makes it different from a Challenge, where the host has to come back and judge.
Active
The Reveal is open. Invited friends can uncover the photo and answer until the deadline. The clock is visible on the photo the whole time, turning urgent in the final hour.
Nothing about a live Reveal can be edited — not the photo, not the answer, not the framing, not who was invited.
Resolved
The deadline passed. Buddzy ranks every correct answer, records the top three as winners, and pays out. It can take up to an hour after the deadline for a Reveal to flip over.
Once resolved:
- The photo is uncovered for everyone, including friends who never answered
- The leaderboard fills in with medals and reveal percentages
- Winners get their "You Won!" celebration to claim
- Everyone who guessed appears in their friends' feeds, the same as a finished quiz
Cancelled
The host pulled it before the deadline. A cancelled Reveal cannot be answered and never resolves — no ranking, no rewards, no result.
Nobody is notified when this happens. The Reveal just stops appearing.
The two-answer minimum
At least 2 friends must have answered by the deadline for anyone to be ranked. Below that, the Reveal resolves with no winners.
Nothing bad happens to the host — no penalty, no refund, no retry. It simply ends quietly. And note it counts answers, not correct ones: two friends answering with one right gives you exactly one winner.
Choosing your duration
You set anywhere from 1 to 24 hours, and it is a real trade:
| Duration | What you get |
|---|---|
| 1-3 hours | Urgency and buzz, fewer players |
| 6-12 hours | A decent balance |
| 24 hours | Everyone gets a shot, less of a moment |
The two-answer minimum is the thing to keep in mind. If your friends are scattered across timezones, a one-hour Reveal can easily end with nobody on the podium.
After it ends
A resolved Reveal does not disappear. It stays on your profile's Games tab and in the Reveal hub's played list, with its result intact.
In your own history, each past Reveal shows its photo covered to exactly the point you had uncovered when you answered — a record of how much you were working from. Reveals still running show no photo at all until they close, so browsing your history can never spoil a live round.
