A Reveal opens on its own and closes on its own. Nobody is steering it, so every turn of it gets announced — otherwise you would simply never know it happened.
Four moments, and each one goes to a deliberately different group.
When it is created
Everyone invited gets told a photo is waiting for them.
When the first friend guesses
The host, once. Only the first one.
Later guesses stay quiet on purpose. A Reveal goes out to everybody at once, so notifying per guess would bury a popular host under their own game — twenty friends playing would mean twenty buzzes.
A couple of hours before the deadline
Only the friends who have not answered yet.
If you have already played, you are never reminded. There is nothing left for you to do, and a nudge about something you have finished is just noise.
When it resolves
Everyone who guessed, plus the host.
- Winners are told what they earned, and can go claim it
- Everyone else is told the round is over and the photo is uncovered
That last part matters more than it looks. Without it, someone who guessed wrong would never find out what the answer actually was — and finding out is half the fun.
When it is cancelled
Nobody. If a host pulls a Reveal before its deadline, it simply stops appearing. No notification, no explanation.
What this adds up to
| Moment | Who hears |
|---|---|
| Created | Every invited friend |
| First guess | The host, once |
| Deadline approaching | Only friends who have not answered |
| Resolved | Everyone who guessed, and the host |
| Cancelled | Nobody |
If you would rather not be pinged
Reveal notifications follow your normal Buddzy notification settings — see Notification Settings.
Worth thinking twice about turning them off, though. Unlike a Streak, a Reveal has a hard deadline and no way to catch up afterwards. Miss the window and the round resolved without you.
Good to know
Tapping any Reveal notification takes you straight to that Reveal, not to the app's home. If you were signed out, you land there after signing in — the link is remembered.
