Want to switch up how you show up in Buddzy? Editing your profile is super quick and takes effect immediately. Whether you want a new display name or a fresh bio, it's all just a few taps away.
How It Works
Here's how to get to your profile editor:
- Open Settings — Tap the gear icon in the bottom-right corner of the app.
- Tap Profile — This takes you to your profile editing screen.
- Make your changes — Edit your display name, update your bio, or both.
- Save — Your changes go live instantly. No waiting, no approval process.
That's it. Your friends will see the updated info the next time they visit your profile or see your name in the app.
Display Name vs. Username
This is an important distinction. Your display name is the friendly name your friends see — it can be your real name, a nickname, or whatever you want. You can change it anytime with no limits.
Your username is the unique handle tied to your account (the one with the @ symbol). That's a different thing entirely and can't be changed through the profile editor. Your display name is purely cosmetic — it's how you present yourself, while your username is how the system identifies you.
What You Can Edit
- Display Name — Change it to anything you want, as many times as you want. Feel like going by your initials this week? Go for it.
- Bio — A free-text field where you can write whatever's on your mind. Keep it short and punchy, or leave it blank — your call.
- Mood Emoji — Set a temporary emoji that shows your current vibe. You can pick the duration (1, 3, or 7 days) and it costs just 1-2 Orbs.
Pro Tips
- Your display name doesn't have to be unique. Multiple people can have the same display name since usernames handle the uniqueness.
- Update your bio to match your current mood, a song you're into, or a goal you're chasing. It keeps your profile feeling alive.
- Changes are instant across the entire app. If you're in the middle of an orbit, your new display name shows up on the leaderboard right away.
- There's no edit history. Nobody can see what your old display name or bio was, so don't worry about committing to a change.
Good to Know
Profile edits have no cooldown. You could technically change your display name ten times a day if you wanted to. Buddzy won't stop you — just make sure your friends can still figure out who you are.
