The Spotlights

Three friends get a special effect: your best friend, your most generous friend, and your strongest Streak. Everyone else stays calm so they stand out.

If every planet in your Galaxy animated, none of them would mean anything. So exactly three get an effect, and each one tells you something different about your circle.

The three

Best friend — the friend you give the most Stars to. They are linked to your Sun by an animated electric beam. It is the most visually dramatic thing on the canvas, and it points at the relationship you invest in most.

Most generous — the friend who gives you the most Stars. Their orbiting stars become noticeably bigger, faster and glowier, while everyone else's are gently damped so the difference reads instantly. You do not have to count anything; the brightest orbit is the answer.

Highest Streak — your strongest active fidelity Streak. Their planet wears a flickering fire frame.

They measure different things

That is the point. It is entirely normal for these to be three different people:

  • Your best friend is about what you give
  • Your most generous is about what you receive
  • Your highest Streak is about consistency, not volume

When one person holds all three, that is genuinely a close friendship. When they are three different people, that is a healthy circle.

On someone else's Galaxy

Visit a friend and the spotlights describe them, not you. Their best friend, their most generous friend, their longest Streak.

It is one of the quieter pleasures of visiting: you learn who shows up for your friend, without anyone having to say anything.

The Legend button

If you are not sure what an effect means, the Legend button under the Galaxy owner's name opens a guide. It explains each signal and gesture with a live preview of the effect running next to its description — the beam, the generosity spark, the streak flame.

Easier than reading about it. Which, admittedly, is what you are doing right now.

Reduce motion

All three effects are disabled when your device has reduce-motion turned on. The information does not disappear — the canvas simply stops animating.

Why only three

If every planet glowed, none of them would mean anything. Three is enough to tell the story of your Galaxy at a glance, and few enough that spotting one actually registers.

It is also why planets on the canvas are plain avatars — the decorated version, with your aura frame and badge, shows up everywhere else in the app instead.
