What Is a Nudge? Re-engaging Inactive Friends

Learn how Nudges let you re-engage inactive friends by sending them Stars as a genuine gesture.

What Is a Nudge? Re-engaging Inactive Friends

Sometimes friends drift away for a while. Life gets busy, routines change, and apps fall off the radar. That's where the Nudge comes in — a thoughtful way to let a friend know you're thinking of them and would love to see them back on Buddzy.

How Nudges Work

If a friend hasn't been active on Buddzy for 5 or more days, a Nudge option becomes available on their profile. Tapping it sends them a notification — but a Nudge isn't just an empty ping. When you send a Nudge, 3 of your Stars go directly to your friend as part of the nudge.

That's what makes a Nudge different from a regular notification. It's a real gesture — proof that you actually thought of them. Your friend receives those Stars along with the nudge, giving them a reason to open the app and a small gift waiting when they do.

Rules and Limits

To keep Nudges meaningful and prevent overuse, there are a few rules:

  • Cooldown period: You can nudge each friend once every 14 days
  • Inactivity requirement: The friend must have been inactive for at least 5 days before you can send a Nudge
  • Star cost: Each Nudge costs 3 Stars from your balance, which are transferred to your friend

These limits ensure that Nudges stay special. They're not meant to be spammed — they're meant to be a genuine moment of connection.

Why Nudges Matter

A Nudge says more than "come back." It says "I noticed you were gone, and I'm willing to give you something to show it." That personal touch makes all the difference. Friends who receive a Nudge know that someone in the community actually cared enough to spend their own Stars.

It's a small action with a big impact — both for the friend who receives it and for the community as a whole. Nudges help keep friendships alive and bring people back into the fold when they've been away.

Think of it as a friendly tap on the shoulder, with a little gift attached.
