Ready to run the show? Creating a Challenge puts you in the director's chair. You set the rules, pick the players, and eventually crown the winner. It's one of the most satisfying things you can do in Buddzy, and it only takes about 30 seconds to set up.
How It Works
Follow these steps to get your Challenge live:
- Tap the Challenge icon in the app
- Hit Create to start building your Challenge
- Write your prompt — this is the creative dare your friends will respond to
- Optionally pick a category to tag your Challenge. There are 6 categories to choose from: Scavenger, Creativity, Opinion, Hype, Vulnerability, or Custom. Categories are optional but help participants know the vibe before they enter.
- Choose the duration (Flash, Quick, Standard, or Default)
- Check who it goes to — all your friends by default, adjustable from the summary page (at least 2 required)
- Select the friends you want to invite
- Pay the 5 Orbs creation fee from your wallet
- Hit publish and you're live
The moment you publish, every invited friend gets an instant push notification telling them a new Challenge is waiting. The clock starts ticking immediately.
The Creation Cost
Every Challenge costs 5 Orbs to create. This isn't refundable — even if nobody participates or you forget to crown a winner, those Orbs are spent. The prize itself is fixed: the winner gets 5 Stars from you, through your friendship, plus 2 Orbs. You don't choose the amount, and it's the same in every Challenge. You also earn 5 Aura as the creator, and 5 more for judging.
Think of it as the host putting skin in the game. You're not just throwing out a random prompt — you're investing in the experience.
Pro Tips
- Nail the prompt first. Before you even open the creation flow, know exactly what you want to ask. A great prompt is the difference between an unforgettable Challenge and one that flops.
- Invite broadly. The only threshold is 2 submissions — there's no minimum response rate, so inviting your whole friend list is never held against you. More invites simply means more chances of clearing the bar.
- Match the duration to your crew's availability. There's no point running a Flash Challenge if everyone's asleep. Check who's online first.
- Start with lower Star rewards if you're still building up your wallet. A 3-Star Challenge is still fun and costs way less to run.
Good to Know
You can't edit or cancel a Challenge once it's published. The prompt, duration, format, category, and invitee list are all locked in the moment you hit publish. Once live, the Challenge follows this lifecycle: Active → Judging → Completed/Cancelled/Expired. So double-check everything before you commit those 5 Orbs.
