Every 14 days the Current Orbit closes and a new one opens. Four things happen, in this order.
1. Your number one gets told
The friend you gave the most Stars to during the orbit is notified that they topped your podium.
This is one-directional and warm by design. They find out they mattered to you. Nobody is told they came last, nobody sees a full ranking of your friends, and there is no losers' list. The only message the system sends is a good one.
2. Decay lands
A 10% reduction is applied to your all-time Star totals — but only on friendships that already sit above 10 Stars.
Small, new friendships are untouched. A bond you have been building for a year takes the hit, because that is the point: closeness has to be maintained, not banked. See What Is Star Decay.
You can watch it happen. Tap the ENDED pill next to the Current Orbit control on your Galaxy and the removed Stars float up over the affected planets. It is the only moment decay is visible rather than just quietly true.
3. Orbit counts reset
Everyone goes back to zero for the new cycle. Your all-time totals are untouched by this — only the orbit counter resets.
4. The finished orbit is filed as Last Orbit
Nothing is thrown away. The totals you just finished become Last Orbit, and the friend who topped it appears as a champion chip at the top of your Current Orbit sheet for the whole of the next cycle.
So there is always a visible record of who you showed up for most recently.
The celebration
Tapping ENDED plays an animated podium of the orbit that just finished before showing the decay. It is short and it is skippable, but it is the closest thing Buddzy has to a fortnightly ceremony.
If you miss it, nothing is lost — the results are still in the Current Orbit sheet under Last Orbit.
What this rhythm is for
Two weeks is short enough that a quiet fortnight does not doom you and long enough that a single burst of generosity does not win it.
Combined with decay, it means the friends who feel closest in your Galaxy are the ones you have been showing up for lately, not the ones you were close to two years ago. That is a deliberate choice about what a friendship map should show.
Common questions
Does decay take Stars from my wallet? No. Decay touches friendship totals, never your giveable balance.
Does it affect my Star Giver level? No. Your lifetime given count only ever goes up.
Can I miss the reset? No — orbits turn over on their own whether the app is open or not. Nothing needs claiming.
